Replacement...

In light of the fact that I believe many of you are working hard and doing your best to improve I have an opportunity for all involved (those who are not working hard should thank those who are!)

We have a multiple choice test coming up on Thursday, November 14th that covers chapters 29, 30, 31 and 32 (up to page 713).  This is approximately 3.5 chapters which makes this test cover less material than on average.  This may present an excellent opportunity for many of you to take advantage of...

After reviewing your grades it seems as the majority of the class has at least one multiple choice test that they would like to revisit.  In light of your efforts and my interest of fairness the Chapter 29-32 Objective Test will not only count as a test but can also be used to replace a deficient score (in your view) at a ratio of .5:1 based on the score difference if your score on the Chapter 29-32 Objective Test exceeds the score on the other test.

Example:
On the Chapter 6-8 Test you scored a 50/75.
On the Chapter 29-32 Test you scored a 66/75.

For the Chapter 29-32 Test you recieve a 66.
For the Chapter 6-8 Test you request a change from 50 to 58 (based on the difference between Chapter 29-32 and Chapter 6-8 score = +16....1/2:1 = 8) and your score for the Chapter 6-8 Test becomes 58.

The key is that you have to (1) improve and (2) request the change.  I will make no assumptions about what you want to change so if I don't hear from you then no changes will take effect.  In the interest of having everyone understand where their grade is for December heading into Finals the cutoff for this "grade swap" opportunity will end the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (November 26th) before the end of lunch.

This opportunity cannot hurt your grade.  If the Chapter 29-32 Test score is your worst score so far I will not request that you lower the score of another test.  In that case the score for Chapter 29-32 will simply be a single test score.  For those who have achieved excellent scores on every test thus far the possible effect may be minimal.  For those who have one test that for whatever reason became a drag on your grade this is an opportunity to correct that aberration.  For those who have many such tests that are "abberations" (but if you have many, how are they abberation?  Ponder.) at least you can take care of one poor test score.

Due to the steadiness in DBQ scores there is no opportunity to replace a DBQ score.  This only applies to objective tests.

This opportunity will only be offered once.  Take advantage of it.  Keep in mind that we have Veterans Day on Monday so we will cover Woodrow Wilson on Tuesday, Imperialism in the first half of the period on Thursday and take the Chapters 29-32 Objective Test during the second half of the period on Thursday.  It is extremely important that you keep up with the reading so that you will understand what I am going over (especially with Imperialism).  The practice test is contained in the questions that remain for Chapters 29-32 from the Chapters 24-32 Practice Test on Edmodo.
